NOVA EDEN — In a rapidly changing world in which the natural environment is getting drastically smaller, different forms of plant life are struggling to adapt to their changing habitats. Designer Rob van der Burg addresses this issue by modifying plants with the use of technology, enabling them to actively respond to their environment and thrive in these new conditions. The installation “NOVA EDEN” comprises a collection of plants which are each enhanced in a unique way by cybernetics. “NOVA EDEN” is an ongoing project that aims to develop a series of autonomous cybernetic plants that can be released into nature.
Rob van der Burg graduated in 2015 from the Interactive / Media / Design department of the Royal Academy of Art The Hague.
